Introduction of Air Botswana
Air Botswana (BP) is a national air carrier of the state, with its headquarters in Gaborone. The airline operates daily scheduled flights to domestic cities and areas from its base at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. It was founded on 2 July 1972 after the consecutive failures of two former national airlines – the Botswana National Airways and the Botswana Airways Corporation. The airline began its operations from the August of 1972 with their only aircraft, a Fokker F-27 Friendship. Today, the airline operates flights to the major commercial and tourist destinations in the southern part of Africa.

The major destinations covered by the airline are - Francistown, Gaborone, Kasane, and Maun in Botswana; Nairobi in Kenya; Blantyre and Lilongwe in Malawi; Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa; and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Baggage policy of Air Botswana
The baggage policy of Air Botswana allows luggage weight of 23kg per passenger in all economy cabins during check-ins. Parents with toddlers and infants are allowed to carry the luggage of 10 kilos and passengers are allowed to carry a hand baggage of not more than 7 kilos.

The major aircraft in Air Botswana's fleet consists of turbo-propelled aircraft ATR 42-500 which comes with 47 seats, ATR 72-500 with 68 seats, and Avro RJ85 with 112 seats. All the aircraft are known for their high reliability, incredible performance and efficiency in the hot climate and even high altitude. The airline's services are also actively considered by Red Cross, WHO and other NGOs bringing relief in the conflicted zones, due to these attributes.

Check-in policy of Air Botswana
The airline insists that all ticket booking and payment procedures should be completed 6 hours prior to scheduled time. All e-tickets are processed during these 6 hours. For domestic destinations, passengers should check-in an hour before the scheduled time and for the international destinations, the time is extended to 2 hours. Passengers are asked to carry their identity cards during domestic travel.
